SnackIQ is developed by Food4Life, a teen-led nonprofit organization dedicated to nutrition education and food security. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how our app handles your information.

Information We Collect

SnackIQ is designed with privacy in mind. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. The app functions entirely on your device without requiring account creation, login, or any personal data.

Camera Usage

SnackIQ requests access to your device's camera solely for the purpose of scanning product barcodes. When you scan a barcode:

• The camera is used only to read the barcode number
• No images or photos are captured, stored, or transmitted
• Camera access can be revoked at any time through your device settings

Third-Party Services

SnackIQ uses the Open Food Facts database to retrieve nutritional information about scanned products. When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts to look up product data. Open Food Facts is a free, open, collaborative database. We encourage you to review their terms of use and privacy practices.

We do not use any analytics services, advertising networks, or other third-party tracking tools.

Data Storage

SnackIQ does not store any user data on external servers. Any app preferences or settings are stored locally on your device and are not accessible to us.

Children's Privacy

SnackIQ is designed to be educational and appropriate for users of all ages. Because we do not collect any personal information, there is no data collected from children. Parents and guardians can feel confident that their children's privacy is protected while using SnackIQ.
